Peptide Prep Checklist

Everything you need to prepare for your first peptide reconstitution — organized step by step so nothing gets missed.

📦 Supplies to Gather

Peptide vial(s) — lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder from a reputable vendor with COA
Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) — sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative. Standard reconstitution solvent for most peptides.
Insulin syringes — U-100, 29-31 gauge, 0.5 mL or 1 mL capacity. Easy Touch Insulin Syringes →
Mixing syringes (optional) — 3 mL with 23 gauge needle for drawing BAC water. 3mL Lab Syringes →
Alcohol prep pads — for sterilizing vial stoppers and injection sites. CURAD Alcohol Prep Pads →
Sharps container — FDA-approved container for safe needle disposal. Alcedo Sharps Container →

🧮 Before You Reconstitute

Record the peptide amount — note the mg per vial (e.g., 5 mg, 10 mg) from the label
Decide your BAC water volume — common choices: 1 mL, 2 mL, or 3 mL. More water = lower concentration = larger injection volume per dose
Calculate your concentration — use our Reconstitution Calculator to determine mg/mL and mcg per syringe unit
Know your target dose — check our Dosage Calculator for research-backed protocol ranges
Prepare labels — write: peptide name, reconstitution date, concentration (mg/mL), and volume of BAC water added

💡 Pro Tip: The Math Shortcut

If you add 1 mL of BAC water to a 10 mg vial, you get 10 mg/mL (10,000 mcg/mL). On a U-100 insulin syringe, each unit = 100 mcg. For a 250 mcg dose, draw 2.5 units. Our calculator handles this automatically for any combination.

💉 Reconstitution Steps

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water
Clean your workspace — use a clean, flat surface with good lighting
Swab vial tops — wipe both the BAC water and peptide vial stoppers with alcohol prep pads. Let dry 10 seconds.
Draw BAC water — using your mixing syringe, draw the planned volume of bacteriostatic water
Inject slowly along the wall — insert needle into peptide vial at an angle. Let BAC water trickle down the glass wall, NOT directly onto the powder
Gently swirl — rotate the vial between your fingers until the powder fully dissolves. NEVER shake — this can denature the peptide
Inspect the solution — it should be clear and colorless. Cloudiness or particles may indicate degradation
Label the vial — attach your prepared label with all reconstitution details

🧊 Storage After Reconstitution

Refrigerate immediately — store reconstituted peptide at 2-8°C (standard refrigerator)
Keep away from light — store in the box or wrap vial in foil to prevent photodegradation
Use within 28 days — bacteriostatic water’s preservative is effective for approximately 4 weeks
Always swab before drawing — wipe the vial stopper with alcohol before every withdrawal
Dispose of needles safely — place all used syringes in your sharps container immediately after use
